You welcome... In the Czech republic, amongst the falcon, Eagle and Gaints´ mountains, the pretty town Červený Kostelec trying to keep the popular traditions of the region, every year, at the end of august, one of the biggest and oldest folklore festival in central Europe is organised: The International folklore festival "Červený Kostelec".
5 domestic and 15 foreign group   A large proposition of performances awakes all the town and receives and audience coming not only from the region, from Wednesday to Sunday, five local groups and fifteen ones from abroad occupy the outdoor stage and the town having contact with each other and with the audience.
Five days of the festival

WendesdayThe first programme consists of the introduction of all the groups, which have accepted the invitation by our Town Cultural Centre. From 10 p. m. we plan the Dancing party with the country group Pěna from Rtyně v Podkrkonoší.
History of the festival In 1952, a celebration has been made for the 100th century of the first edition of Božena Němcová's novel "Babička" (The Grand-mother) at the castle's ruins Rýzmburk, that means quite at the place where the events of the novel were situated.

The festival ha been taken under the patronage of the I. O. V., organisation having a "B" statute by the UNESCo.


It is a large meeting of song and dance groups from the entire world. A large proposition of performances awakes all the town and receives and audience coming not only from the region, from Wednesday to Sunday, five local groups and fifteen ones from abroad occupy the outdoor stage and the town having contact with each other and with the audience. An important part of the festival is made by the every day´s social evenings.
